The Fijian Elections Office has transported the first batch of ballot papers from the printery to a secure storage under heavy police guard this morning.
The Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says that the first 20,000 ballot papers are being stored in a facility which has very secure entry and exits.
Saneem says limited number of people can enter the facility.
He says that they will now continue to transport ballot papers as they are ready and the same protocol of dispatch and receiving mechanisms will be applied where police will always be present.
Saneem says the tracking mechanism for ballot papers is very transparent to ensure that all the papers are properly recorded and accounted for at the end.
The Supervisor of Elections confirmed that 764,850 ballot papers will be printed.
