Eid is not only a celebration for Muslims but it brings people of all religions together.
This is the sentiment shared by the people who are celebrating Eid today after a month of fasting.
Dr Mohammed Munir of Nausori said they are celebrating Eid with the needy.
Munir also said that the devastation caused by Cyclone Winston did not discourage them from fasting and celebrating Eid.
Vilashni Ali of Nadi said after the morning prayer they are preparing sweets and snacks for the families and invited guests.
Ali said we should remember those in our celebrations and prayers who are not able to celebrate Eid due to extreme hardship.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa has extended her wishes to all Muslims throughout Fiji.
Ro Teimumu said Eid is a significant celebration in the Islamic calendar where they mark the end of a month‑long fast of Ramadan, a time where a sense of generosity and gratitude colours these celebrations.
She said her prayers are with the people of Turkey, Baghdad, Syria and other Middle East nations who are currently facing difficult times in their homelands.
