Students of Naceva District School, in Kadavu will now be able to expand their learning capabilities through internet connectivity after the Minister for Infrastructure Jone Usamate, on behalf of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, officially handed over a a satellite communication system to the school yesterday.
The system allows for transmission and receiving of data, voice and video signals where teachers and students can access e-books and other essential educational information needed for classroom learning online.
Usamate says the Fijian Government remains steadfast in ensuring that every Fijian enjoys internet connectivity.
He says student learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has proven the need to connect the unconnected and the Fijian Government is working towards ensuring students in the rural communities and maritime islands get to enjoy equal educational benefits as those in the urban centres in terms of using the internet.
The donation from the Office of the Prime Minister cost $14,613.18 under the Small Grant Scheme.
