The Ministry of Education is currently working on converting books and other teaching and educational resources into e-books.

This was confirmed by Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on Facebook budget consultations for the 2019‑2020 National Budget.

Sayed-Khaiyum was responding to a Year 13 student of Ba Sanatan College who asked if text books can be converted to e-books so students can access materials from their ipads, laptops, computers and tablets.

The Minister says that once the electronic versions are available, it will be rolled out via digital platforms such as moodle applications and accessed on tablets, phones and other electronic devices.

He also reiterates that the government is also working on getting internet connectivity throughout Fiji, so all students will be able to access technology.

He adds that they do not want to create a further divide between urban and rural students.
