The Education Ministry will soon question the Principal of Lelean Memorial School on why they have issued letters to students that states the Parents Teachers Association fees of $100 must be paid during enrollment.
The matter has been brought up by a concerned parent who told Fijivillage that the letter from the school states that places for students will not be confirmed until the PTA fees is paid.
He says the letter which has been signed by the Principal of the school also states that the enrollment form has to be returned by 17th November and failure to do so will mean students places will be given to those on the waiting list.
The parent says his son is currently in Year 10.
When questioned by Fijivillage, Education Ministry's Permanent Secretary Iowane Tiko says they do not encourage schools to be doing this and it has to stop.
