Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro is advising parents to monitor the weather and make the necessary decisions on sending children to school, especially for those living in flood prone areas.
Radrodro says the safety and welfare of the children is paramount.
He says teachers and school management are also expected to make the necessary call if schools are to remain open or closed for the day.
Divisional Educations Officers will be encouraged to liaise with schools respectively.
Radrodro adds that it is the first week of school and teachers are requested to understand the situation of students who may be affected by the current weather conditions.
Meanwhile, a Flash Flood Warning remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood prone areas and small streams of Naitasiri Province, Coastal Serua-Namosi, Navua-Lami-Suva-Nausori and Tailevu through Rakiraki to Tavua and is now in force for parts of Vanua Levu including Labasa-Nadogo district, Coastal Vaturova and Saqani areas while a Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for Fiji.
The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure is expected to affect parts of the country for the next few days.
