Easter is a time for personal reflection and assessment, a time to reflect upon and remember Jesus Christ's universal message of peace, love, and forgiveness.

This is the message to the nation from the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who said that Easter is one of the most cherished religious events in the Christian calendar which commemorates the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He said in the lead up to Easter many have fasted and engaged in other activities of self restraint, prayer and meditation.

Commodore Bainimarama said as demonstrated through Jesus actions of sharing, compassion and understanding, humanity can only be successful as a group and as individuals if such universally accepted values are accepted and practiced.

He said Christ demonstrated that there is dignity through love and respect, that there must be humility in our actions and that we must care about our fellow citizens irrespective of their position in society.

Bainimarama said that it is only through a national acceptance of such values, principles and practices can we be truly progressive and achieve a compassionate and just Fiji for all.
