Easter brings hope, new beginnings and eternal life, made possible by Jesus Christ who loved us enough to die in our place.
In his Easter message, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says some may celebrate with a feast today, while others may not be so fortunate.
He says whatever situation we are in, he prays that the true meaning of Easter is not lost.
Rabuka says a little over a week ago, we marked Palm Sunday and watched children re-enact Jesus entering into Jerusalem waving palm branches and singing Hossana to our king.
He also highlighted that God intended that the women would be the first to discover that Jesus body was longer in the tomb because they would communicate what they had witnessed to the world.
He says since Good Friday and from the biblical stories, we learn about the significant role of women and mothers.
The Prime Minister says each and every one has a mother and the ills of society now is because of the social disconnect between parents and children, and between the elderly and the young.
He urges all Fijians that this Easter we should be fully aware of the reality many of our mothers and children face.
