Early Christmas for 7 workers in the North as they were paid arrears in their wages

It was an early Christmas for seven workers in the North as they were paid arrears in their wages.

Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Parveen Kumar Bala stressed Government will come down hard on those employers who do not pay workers their due.

Bala made this statement while handing out cheques to the seven workers adding workers have also got commitment and employers must look after them.

The Minister has urged workers in Fiji that if they are facing similar cases, to report to the nearest Employment Department, so that it can be investigated and workers get paid their due.

The Ministry was able to recover $4.3 million between 2018 and 2019 from companies for failing to comply with the policies that protects employees.
