The earliest day we can have the next general elections is on the 9th of July next year.
Electoral Commission Chairman, Suresh Chandra says this will be the date if the Writ of Elections is issued on the 26th of May next year which is the first date for the writ to be issued.
The last day for the writ to be issued is on the 26th of November and the election can be held on 9th January 2023.
All the registered political parties are currently in a meeting with the Electoral Commission.
FijiFirst General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka, NFP’s Seini Nabou, HOPE Party Leader, Tupou Draunidalo, Unity Fiji Leader, Savenaca Narube, Freedom Alliance’s Jagath Karunaratne and Fiji Labour Party’s Monica Raghwan are attending the meeting.
