Minister for Education Premila Kumar says each person is unique and has special talents which should be encouraged and nurtured.
Kumar highlighted this while launching the Fiji School for the Blind's Music and Art Programme for 2022.
She says the launch of this music and arts programme will allow the children to explore their abilities and refine them to the next level.
Kumar says the $10,000 programme is sponsored by the ‘I See Love in Your Eyes’ Art Initiative Committee.
She says the program includes a complete set of band musical instruments, art supplies and a full-time tutor.
Kumar says music and arts education is important for the holistic development of a child, whether they learn in their home, community or in schools.
The Minister says exposure to arts and music from a young age helps a child in so many ways.
Also present at the event was the Chair of the Art Initiative Committee, Jenny Seeto, Jane Ren-Seam who is a Patron of the Art Initiative and the Head of School of the Fiji Society for the Blind School, Sharmila Chandra.
