The European Union will be providing FJ$65 million to Fiji under the National Indicative Programme.

While signing a new partnership programme which will guide the EU development cooperation with Fiji until 2020, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica says the signing reflects the EU's commitment to support the Fijian Government’s efforts in driving forward sustainable development and improving the lives of citizens.

Mimica says the support programme will also be targeted toward the Fijian Agriculture and Sugar sector over the next five years.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the government of Fiji thanks the EU for the support.

Bainimarama says the funding will be administered in two main areas in the country.
