Power supply for people living in parts of Lautoka, Tavarau, Ba to Tavua, whole of Tavua and Nadarivatu, Tavua to Navesau in Rakiraki will be affected by planned repair, maintenance and upgrade exercise at the Vuda Substation on Sunday.
CEO Hasmukh Patel says to enable EFL to undertake the works, they will de-energise the 132kV transmission line that transmits power from the Nadarivatu Switchyard to the Vuda Substation from 4am to 7pm this Sunday.
He says these works need to be executed to ensure reliability and security of power supply to the Western Division.
Patel says during this period, they will supply electricity from the diesel power stations at Vuda, Qeleloa, Nadi, Sigatoka and Rakiraki to meet the electricity demand of customers in the Western Division from Matanivusi Hill in Serua to Raviravi in Ba and Rakiraki CBD.
He further says power supply to the customers in the Western Division should not be affected unless there is a failure of any of the diesel generation sets, or in the event of any unrelated fault on the transmission and distribution network.
Patel adds this exercise will be postponed in the event the weather conditions are unfavourable.
