The 2023 Rugby World Cup host France’s quarter final match preparations have received a huge boost as captain and star halfback Antoine Dupont has been cleared by the doctors to resume full training with the team yesterday.
Dupont suffered a broken cheekbone in their pool match against Uruguay last month and has been under doctors’ supervision ever since.
The surgeon who repaired Dupont's cheekbone gave him a green light to resume full training after a final check-up on Monday and is expected to make a return to the match day squad for this crucial quarter final match against the Springboks.
It is up to the coaches now whether the star scrum-half is fit to start or come off the bench.
France wrapped up their RWC pool matches undefeated with wins over the All Blacks, Uruguay and Italy.
The hosts will take on South Africa in the last quarter final at 7am Monday.
In other RWC quarter finals, Wales will play Argentina at 3am Sunday, the All Blacks take on Ireland at 7am Sunday and the Flying Fijians will play England at 3am Monday.
