The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side is through to the semi finals of the HSBC Dubai 7s tournament after defeating Olympic gold medallist France 19-17 in the third quarter final.
France scored the first try of the match through Liam Delamare, and the Fijians responded through tries by Kavekini Tanivanuakula and Filipe Sauturaga.
Fiji led France 14-5 at half time.
The second half saw France make a comeback by scoring two tries through Jordan Sepho and Victor Hannoun to put them in a 17-14 lead.
The final minutes saw Fiji putting on a magnificent finish as Vuiviawa Naduvalo ran 70-metres to score the winning try and put Fiji into the semi finals.
Fiji will face the winner of the Argentina and Australia game in the semi finals.
The men’s cup semi finals will kick off at 10.06 tonight, and the cup final will be at 4.11am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s side will take on China in the 9th-place playoff at 9 tonight.
The women’s cup semi final will kick off at 9.12 tonight and the cup final will be at 3.35am tomorrow.
