The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side lost to defending Dubai 7s champion, South Africa, 14-7 in the semi final.
Fiji started the match strong, putting pressure on the Blizbokers, but they also committed a lot of mistakes in the first half.
South Africa’s Justin Geduld scored the first try to give his side a 7-0 at halftime.
Fiji managed to get one back from a sneaky play by Pilipo Bukayaro in the second half, however, Masande Mtshali crossed over the white line with seconds left on the time to break the Fijians hearts.
In the second semi final, Argentina beat New Zealand 21-19.
Fiji will face New Zealand in the third-place playoff at 2.40am tomorrow.
The men’s final will be at 3.53am tomorrow.
