The Fiji Airways Drua will be playing their first ever Australian National Rugby Championship final and will get the opportunity to host the match after defeating Canberra Vikings 35–28 in the first semi-final at Churchill Park.
This after a strong comeback in the second half where the Drua managed to score four tries after trailing 18-7 at half time.
The second half tries came from Eroni Mawi, Eremasi Radrodro, Aporosa Tabulawaki and the Drua was also awarded a penalty try.
The Drua struggled to keep possession in the first half but made a remarkable comeback in the second half.
The Vikings managed to score the first try through Andy Muirhead through a restart with a scrum middle of the field and quick flick out to the left saw Muirhead showing some fancy footwork to put the ball down in the corner.
Another quick ball movement by Joe Powell and wide swinging pass to Lausi'i Taliauli sent him sailing over the try line for the Vikings second try.
Fiji’s first try came from Frank Lomani in the 27th minute of play where the Drua patiently build the play on the pick and go by their forwards and Lomani sneaked through under the post to score the first try of the game for the Drua.
Drua’s Peni Naulago was penalized for offside, giving the Vikings an extra 3 points through a penalty conversion.
Three minutes to half time, Albert Tuisue was yellow carded for a dangerous tackle.
Fiji will now play the winner of the Western Force and Queensland Country semi-final which will start at 5pm tomorrow.
