Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Glen Jackson says the Drua will be holding a 10s Tournament in December to create more engagement with the community.
Jackson stated this when asked on what the Drua is doing in terms of the community and the players families coming to the Drua Base or the players going out to the community.
He says their plan going forward is to be more open, as the Drua is not their team, it is the country’s team.
The coach says the first thing they will do is organise a 10s tournament in Nadi, the Drua 10s, which they hope will become one of the biggest tournaments around.
He says they will try to get everyone to bring their families to the tournament and have a few Drua teams participating.
In the upcoming pre-season, the Drua coach wants to take the team to Kadavu for a week, and this is to take the Drua brand out to another island where people can come and see what they do in camp in terms of training.
Jackson says they also want to get a pre-season game in Fiji and one away game so that the team is ready for the new season.
As a former player, referee and now coach, Jackson says he is just honoured to be able to lead the Drua. With the Drua now heading into their fourth season Jackson says the apprenticeship is over as they are not new to the competition any more.
