Driver of vehicle alleged to be involved in fatal hit and run accident in Lautoka arrested

The driver of the vehicle alleged to be involved in a hit and run fatal accident in Lautoka last week has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Lautoka Police Station.

Police say the driver in his 30s was arrested following an anonymous tip whereby officers found the vehicle parked in the suspect's home in Lautoka covered with a tarpaulin.

They say Crime Scene Investigation Officers are currently conducting tests on the vehicle and an LTA vehicle inspection will also be conducted.

Police say a 23-year-old man from Namoli Village lost his life in the incident.

They say the victim was found lying motionless at the junction of Dravuni Street and Kadavu Street in Lautoka after 6pm on Friday
