The driver of the private vehicle linked to the tragic bus accident in Lakena, Nausori where two students' lives were lost appeared in the Nausori Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.
39-years-old, Eremasi Tikomailautoka of Naisaumua Village in Tailevu has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving.
Police Prosecutor, Shailend Prasad objected to bail due to the seriousness of the case and also told the court that this is a case of public interest.
The case has been adjourned to this Friday and Tikomailautoka has been given time to make a formal application for bail.
Meanwhile, a 45-year-old bus driver, Salesh Jattan's bail ruling will be delivered tomorrow.
Jattan has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and a count of dangerous driving in relation to the Lakena accident.
The bus tumbled down the hill causing the death of two students.
Two other students are still admitted in hospital in serious condition.
