The driver alleged to have been involved in a hit and run accident in Namaka Nadi that resulted in the death of a Police officer on Wednesday night has been charged.
The 21-year-old man from Malawai, Nadi is facing six charges.
He faces one count of manslaughter, one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, one count of careless driving, one count of failure to comply with requirements following an accident, one count of using motor vehicle contrary to license condition and one count of unlawful possession of illicit drug as marijuana was allegedly found inside the vehicle.
He is expected to appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The driver had abandoned the vehicle at a hotel car park.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle alleged to have caused the death of his one-year-old child following an accident near Tobu Village in Ra remains admitted in a stable condition in the Lautoka Hospital.
His wife is also admitted and is in stable condition.
However, another 26-year-old woman who was also travelling with them has been transferred to the CWM Hospital and is in a critical condition.
The post mortem for the 1-year-old child will be conducted tomorrow.
The driver for the other vehicle involved in this accident was treated and sent home.
Also, the two students who were admitted following the tragic Lakena bus accident remain admitted at the CWM Hospital in critical condition.
