A driver has narrowly escaped death this morning after the vehicle he was driving veered off Waimanu Road and ended up in a drain along Edinburgh Drive.
Assistant Commissioner for Police Operations, Livai Driu confirmed to fijivillage News that driver fatigue was the cause of the accident.
ACP Driu says the driver was taken to the CWM Hospital after sustaining minor injuries and has been released.
He says the driver admitted that he was a bit sleepy while driving to work this morning.
He adds that it is a busy month of activities and it's best for all road users to be safe and accidents can be avoided if drivers rest properly.
ACP Driu is urging drivers and pedestrians to be alert when it comes to road safety during this festive season.
