It was a dream come true for Nakalou villagers in Vanua Levu as the Government connected the village to their new electricity grid, the Nakalou Grid Extension that was commissioned by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Speaking to fijivillage, a Nakalou villager says nobody had dreamt that electricity will come to their village so quickly since the village was far from Seaqaqa.
He says with electricity, students can now study at night, and villagers can venture into income-generating projects to help their families.
Speaking at the commissioning, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said access to power is a service that most take for granted in cities and towns, where a great many people have lived their entire lives with the ease and comfort of electricity.
He says the government invested $991,817.25 in the completion of this project.
The Prime Minister also commissioned the Bulu Settlement Grid Extension and the Naocobele Village Grid Extension.
