Fiji’s lead frontliners in the fight against COVID-19 received commemorative medals for Fiji’s 50th anniversary of independence from President Jioji Konrote today.
They are Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong, the Health Ministry’s Head of Health Protection Doctor Aalisha Sahukhan, Chief Medical Advisor Doctor Jemesa Tudravu and National FEMAT Lead Doctor Luke Nasedra.
The medals are given to those who contributed to Fiji’s development and progress in the past 50 years.
Others who received commemorative medals at State House this morning were Minister for Defence and National Security Inia Seruiratu, former RFMF Commander Brigadier General Mosese Tikoitoga, former Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou, Nephrologist Amrish Krishnan, Civil Engineer Sanjay Kaba, Rajesh Punja, Mahendra Tappoo, Gardiner Whiteside, Kalpesh Patel, Karalaini Macanawai, Rajesh Patel and Judy Compain.
A number people who have contributed to the development of sports in the country also received commemorative medals.
They are interim Fiji Airways Men’s and Fijiana 7s team coach Saiasi Fuli, FRU CEO John O’Connor, former Fiji men’s 7s team captain Jope Tuikabe, former Flying Fijian captain and FRU Development Manager Sale Sorovaki and provincial rugby title winning coach Reverend Joji Rinakama and former national netball captain and coach Unaisi Rokoura.
