Water Authority of Fiji’s CEO, Doctor Amit Chanan has decided not to seek another term as his contract ends in March this year.
Dr Chanan has informed the Board of his decision and Board Chairman, Ratu Savenaca Seniloli has acknowledged Dr Chanan’s dedicated service to the organisation, its customers and the wider Fijian community since his appointment in 2022.
Ratu Savenaca says Dr Chanan had a focus on WAF’s people and advanced a positive much improved organisational culture and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his exceptional leadership and dedication.
He says under his leadership, they have completed the Viria Water Treatment Plant project, which is one of the biggest water infrastructure projects successfully delivered in the South Pacific.
He says the Viria Plant now provides clean water to around 360,000 Fijians in the Suva to Nausori corridor, reducing intermittent supply areas.
The Chair says Dr Chanan has also been instrumental in developing and launching the Water Sector 2050 Strategy which outlines $8.5 billion investment program for ensuring sustainable and resilient water and sanitation services for all Fijians over the next three decades.
