The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Fiji with the help of Police have managed to rescue the dog that was allegedly beaten and thrown from the second floor balcony of a house in Raiwai on Monday.
They took the dog into their custody this morning.
SPCA Fiji with the help of Police visited the house after obtaining a warrant.
They had also visited the house after 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon and the gate was locked.
SPCA Fiji says a complaint was made by a resident who witnessed the alleged incident.
SPCA Fiji says their team went to attend to the case with the assistance of Police on Monday night but despite all attempts by their staff they were unsuccessful in gaining custody of the dog in question as they could not enter the premises.
SPCA Fiji says the man in the premises allegedly threatened to “chop” the staff that responded to the incident.
