Prime Minister and FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama

Prime Minister and FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama has made a call to his natives in Tailevu not to vote for him just because they are from the same province.

He says people should vote for him for what he has done for the country.

Bainimarama made this statement during the FijiFirst Family Fun Day in Lautoka.

While speaking in the iTaukei language the FijiFirst Leader says that he was informed about SODELPA candidate Niko Nawaikula asking people in a village in Cakaudrove about who they will vote for in this election to which the villagers said that they will vote for him as he is their native.

Bainimarama says that Nawaikula had also asked the villagers about what the FijiFirst government has done for them.

In response the villagers said that Bainimarama had constructed a new school for the village students, provided solar power for the village women’s hall, provided the $1,000 grant which had assisted them in setting up their businesses and also provided disability funds to disabled people in the village.

The FijiFirst Leader also shared his experience in the 2014 General Elections where his government relocated and built new homes for the villagers in Vunitogoloa, Cakaudrove.

Bainimarama says that after the major development the villagers had even shed tears promising the Prime Minister that they will vote for him.

Bainimarama says that after the election he had checked the result and not even a single person from Vunitogoloa had voted for him.

He adds that despite this, he still won because he had gathered good votes from Lautoka and not through being a native to anyone but because of the work they have done for the people.

Bainimarama told SODELPA supporters to close their ears and open their eyes and see the developments his government has done.

He says that they have built roads, improved electrification, jetties and a lot of other things.

Bainimarama says that other political parties have told him that it is the responsibility of any government to which he responded that no other government has done development more efficiently and with the most number of developments that his government has done.
