The Fiji Rugby Union is currently in discussions with the Australia Rugby Union regarding the possibility of including the Fiji 7s team in the Oceania 7s tournament before the Tokyo Olympics.
CEO John O’Connor says they would welcome any international exposure before the Olympics.
However, he says there are still a number of hurdles such as border restrictions and the health risks associated with COVID-19.
O’Connor has also welcomed reports that the two-way Trans-Tasman bubble between Australia and New Zealand will open in two weeks.
The Oceania 7s is expected to be played in May or June in Australia.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held in August.
