Discussion on the construction of the 100-bed Super Specialty Hospital has started with health specialist, finance and infrastructure experts along with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad.

The construction of the hospital will start mid-next year after the announcement by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi in PNG earlier this year. Professor Prasad also assured the delegation that Fiji will work towards strengthening the diplomatic relationship between the two countries to be meaningful and engaging. The delegation was led by the Joint Secretary of Oceania, Paramita Tripathi and the Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Palaniswamy Karthigeyan.
Representatives from the Fiji Government included the Permanent Secretary for Finance Shiri Gounder, Acting Permanent Secretary for Health Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, the Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources Dr. Raijeli Taga and the Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs Pita Tagicakirewa.
