The workshop on the Counter Narcotics Bureau Bill started yesterday with a discussion centred on the initiative to fight drugs in the country.
Assistant Minister of Home Affairs Rakuita Vakalalabure says he hopes the bill can be passed in the November to December parliament sitting if everything goes according to plan.
He says they can not promise when the bill will be passed, but the quicker they find a solution, the better.
Vakalalabure says they will follow due processes and conduct consultations to hear everyone’s opinion because when the law is in place, it will affect everyone.
Vakalalabure reiterates that our defensive partners, Australia and New Zealand, are fully on board with this initiative, and this also includes the help of the various stakeholders to counter the drug problem in Fiji and the Pacific.
