While addressing the cadet pass out parade for Koro High School, Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew stated that for those that may already have had a run in with their principal or teachers – it is not too late to change.
Chew told them to learn from their mistakes, stressing they still have the opportunity to do so, grow from them and discipline their mind to do what is right to be able to secure their tomorrow.
He says it is often the norm that the individual reviewing the parade is the Chief guest, but he wants to change that, and dedicate it to them, the cadets, their parents, community and teachers.
The Acting COMPOL says they are their special guests, as they have opened the doors to the Fiji Police Force to come in and work with them, with the shared goal of empowering the students of Koro High through this Cadet training.
He says he can spend all day talking about statistics and cases, but that is not going to change anything – as the main factor of whether or not they become an offender of crime is determined on your level of discipline.
Chew says is often said that those who are carriers of discipline can inherit the future as every second, minute, hour of our lives, are governed by the decisions we make.
He says whether they be the right or wrong decisions, depends on their level of self-discipline and attitude.
The Acting Commissioner called on the students to change before it was too late.
He told the parents and guardians that children are their greatest achievement and investment, and for them to treasure the moments they have with them, for one day, they will move on with their lives.
