Digicel Fiji has announced that it has signed a five‑year agreement with the Fiji Electricity Authority to lease fiber optic capacity in Viti Levu to deliver faster internet speed to customers.
Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Darren McLean said this new partnership with FEA will enable customers to access data faster and the reach will be far greater.
This new partnership sees Digicel buying lease for more than 276 kilometers on the existing FEA fiber on the main island.
McLean said Digicel has seen a major demand for high speed data across the country, so they have had to look at all options that were available to roll out the 4G network.
The CEO of FEA, Hasmukh Patel said the beneficiaries of this deal are all Fijians in the Western Division who can now experience a new world of faster internet.
This lease of fiber capacity to provide faster internet to Fijians is all part of Digicel Fiji’s $70m investment in the country.
