Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Captain Meli Derenalagi says he is not thinking about taking up a contract overseas at the moment.
Speaking to Rugbypass.com, Derenalagi says his main focus right now is on the Olympics and he will decide after that whether to stay put or move on.
Coach Gareth Baber had earlier confirmed that both Aminiasi Tuimaba and Vilimoni Botitu will miss the remaining four tournaments as they are expected to start their contracts in France in July or August.
When asked about Fiji’s chances to retain the HSBC 7S Series Title, Derenalagi says catching leaders New Zealand will be a challenge as there are only four tournaments left but says they are not giving up just yet.
He says they are waiting for the lockdown to be lifted so they can train and try to put themselves in competition to compete for first spot.
Fiji currently sits in third place on the series points table with 83 points, South Africa is second with 104 points while New Zealand leads the series with 115 points.
