Deputy Mayor for Suva, Joseva Gavidi has defended the use of the mayoral car by the Suva Lord Mayor saying that the use of the car is part of the entitlement he gets as being the Lord Mayor of Suva.
Gavidi also said that there is nothing wrong since previous Lord Mayors have also used the car for personal uses.
This comes after the Lord Mayor Ratu Peni Volavola, was found using the Mayoral car at the weeklong Methodist Church Conference in the chiefly village of Naduri in Macuata.
Ratu Peni Volavola had earlier said that former Mayors of Suva had also used the mayoral vehicle for their private use and he should not be questioned on the issue.
The Citizens Constitutional Forum had earlier stated that it was concerned that the Suva Lord Mayor had once again engaged in bad practices by using the mayoral car for personal use in Vanua Levu.
