Fourteen‑year‑old Anemaria Daulato has created history by becoming the first recipient of the Dux award at the Christian Mission Fellowship Secondary School.
Speaking during the prize giving ceremony at the World Harvest Centre in Kinoya yesterday, Daulato says she had to fight against all odds when her dad passed away one week before the standard exams for Year 9 this year.
She says it is her faith in God, support from her mum and family that pulled her through to achieve the Dux Award.
The Christian Mission Fellowship Secondary school opened its doors this year for Year 9 classes and currently has a roll of 88 students.
Majority of the students are from the surrounding housing settlements in Newtown, Khalsa Road in Nasinu and Tacirua East.
CMF Secondary school achieved a 77 percent pass rate in the standard examination this year.
