Fiji-born Filipo Daugunu has signed up with his former club, the Queensland Reds for the Super Rugby season 2025.
29-year-old Daugunu played 69 Super Rugby games during his six previous seasons from 2018 to 2023 at the Reds before a strong 2024 stint of 12 games for the Melbourne Rebels.
He says Queensland is home for him, it is where it all started and for him to be back, is an honor because there will be a lot of familiar faces.
Daugunu says he packed his things in the car and drove for 18 hours from Melbourne to Brisbane to re-start his life.
His inclusion in the Reds team has given them options as he is now a more versatile player, he played almost exclusively at outside center for the Rebels after making his name as a winger.
His recent elevation into the Wallabies squad of new coach Joe Schmidt shows how highly his experience and form are valued.
Reds Head Coach Les Kiss says it is fantastic that Filipo has returned to Queensland, as he is a much respected man in Queensland.
Kiss says he gives them great cover in the midfield and outside backs.
