After 7 months away from rugby, All Blacks great and Blues newcomer Dan Carter is expected to take the field for his old club the Southbridge club in Canterbury this weekend.
The Blues are on a bye this week from the Super Rugby Aotearoa and Carter will be travelling South this weekend to take the field with his old club.
Speaking to Newshub, Carter says the last three weeks have been pretty intense training, gradually building on his contact and getting his confidence back in playing again, so a bit of club rugby would be good.
The three-time World Rugby Player of the Year has not played a game of competitive rugby since he led the Kobelco Steelers to victory in the final of Japan's Top League in December.
The 38-year-old last appeared for Southbridge in 2014, as he worked his way back to fitness for the Crusaders.
Meanwhile in Super Rugby Aotearoa this week, the Crusaders will take on the Highlanders at 7.05pm Saturday and the Chiefs will face the Hurricanes at 3.35pm Sunday.
