All Blacks great Dan Carter has been linked to a move to Major League Rugby in the United States.
Stuff.co.nz reports this follows his announcement he is quitting the Japanese scene where he won a title for the Kobe Steelers on the back of his success in France with Paris club Racing 92.
The 38-year-old has given no indication he intends to hang up his boots and Rugby Pass report that the New York franchise in the United States league are interested in the services of the double World Cup winner for the 2021 season.
He won't be the first All Black to test the waters in the blossoming American professional league.
His good friend Ma'a Nonu signed with the San Diego Legion for the 2020 season that lasted five rounds before being halted by the coronavirus pandemic.
New Zealand outside back Rene Ranger has played for the Colorado Raptors while prop Jamie Macintosh has played for Ohio and Austin.
Despite his age Carter would be a huge signing for the United States scene.
The first-five played 112 tests for New Zealand, winning 99 of them and scored 1598 points which remains an international record.
