It was a proud moment for Damayanthi Amaratunga, a student from the University of Fiji, to showcase her artistic skills in the university's Art Gallery.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Amaratunga says painting is a hobby, and she loves exploring new and innovative techniques to enhance her drawing skills.
The 48-year-old says before she began drawing, she had to choose between depicting the French president or Ben Ryan, yet she opted for Ryan since he is a familiar face in Fiji.
Amaratunga has also created ten pieces of art, all of which were displayed in the art gallery.
University of Fiji's Vice Chancellor, Professor Shaista Shameem, says her admiration for the development of these art students, noting how complex their art has become since the gallery's first exhibition of student work.
Professor Shameem says this exhibition is particularly impressive to her because of the fine technique displayed, indicating that the students are progressing toward fine art, which is not common in Fiji.
Meanwhile, four students have showcased their pieces at the Art Gallery.
