Damaging heavy swell warning in force for coastal areas

A damaging heavy swell warning remains in force for low lying coastal areas of Yasawa and the Mamanuca group, South West of Viti Levu, the Coral Coast, Pacific Harbour, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

The Nadi Weather Office says an intense high pressure system to the far southwest of Fiji continues to direct damaging southerly swells over the group.

The damaging heavy swells are expected till Wednesday.

The areas mentioned can expect sea flooding of low lying coastal areas especially during high tides.

Meanwhile, 3 houses in Nabukelevu, Kadavu, were destroyed by heavy swells today.

A villager from Nabukelevu, Navitalai Cavalevu says 15 houses were flooded and they have 54 people at an evacuation centre.
