61-year-old dairy farmer, Mitieli Tikoduadua of Nukuloa Village in Lutu, Wainibuka grew up carrying milk cans for miles before putting them on bamboo rafts to get to the pickup point but now, getting a new boat and engine will ease their burden.
Minister for Agriculture Vatimi Rayalu says they ensure that he does not have to face these challenges again.
Rayalu says this will make it easier and faster to get milk to the chilling centre which means better quality, less spoilage and more money in their pockets.
The Minister also highlighted that this will be used to help transport children from school during floods.
He adds this is part of the government's commitment to back the farmers, reduce transportation struggles and increase profits.
