Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-Operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, Manoa Kamikamica aims to forge new partnerships and has requested the International Co-operative Alliance Asia Pacific to establish an office in the Pacific, preferably in Fiji.
While officiating at the 11ty International Co-operative Alliance Ministerial Conference in Jordan, the Deputy PM says as policymakers, it is their responsibility to create an enabling policy and regulatory environment that is conducive to cooperative development.
Kamikamica says it is great to be participating in the Ministerial Conference for the first time, given the significance the Fiji Government places on Co-operative development.
He says the conference will provide an opportunity for cooperatives and Governments to discuss current and emerging issues and set a common agenda towards the establishment of new forms of cooperation between Governments and cooperatives.
He urges the leaders that due to Fiji’s strategic location as the regional hub, the committee needs to establish an office in the Pacific.
