Cyclone Ian moves away from Tonga

The extent of damage from Severe Tropical Cyclone Ian is unclear as the Category Five system moves away from Tonga.

According to Radio Australia the gale warning that had been in place has been cancelled, however the strong wind warnings remain in place for most of the country.

The most recent update from the Fiji Meteorological Service, at this morning, says the storm is located about 200 kilometres east-southeast of Nuku’alofa and is moving south-southeast at 20 kilometres per hour.
