The Counter Narcotics Bureau which was launched earlier this year, currently has around 80 members according to Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua.
Tikoduadua highlighted this to the media at the Nasova training grounds when asked about an update on the Bureau.
He says the emphasis of their work now is in intelligence gathering, and that has really worked out well in many places.
Tikoduadua says it will take some time to build total capacity up to prosecution.
Also earlier this year Police said that they will be monitoring unexplained wealth, which Tikoduadua says is an ongoing work not only of the police but the Financial Intelligence Unit as well.
Tikoduadua says financial institutions will also be looking into this while Police do the investigations.
