Graduates Alice Pickering, Shelvin Reddy and Seema Chand.

Alice Pickering has overcome a number of challenges to graduate with a Diploma in Counselling from APTC and is now better equipped to assist students in terms of counselling.

Pickering who is one of the Ministry of Education’s counsellors based in the West says they had to balance between work and studies at the same time.

She adds before she was the only counsellor looking after more than 300 schools in the West.

Another graduate, Shelvin Reddy says with the course work that they have gone through, it will help them better understand the students needs.

Reddy says he has been in a counselling role since 2012.

Seema Chand who is the Divisional Counsellor for the Eastern Division says one of the challenges she faces is travelling as most of the schools are based in maritime areas.

However, Chand says it does not limit her from providing counselling as she uses online services to help in providing counselling.
