The first confirmed death of the deadly coronavirus in Europe is an 80-year-old Chinese tourist who died in France.
BBC reports that according to the French Health Minister, Agnès Buzyn, the man is from China’s Hubei Province.
Buzyn says the man arrived in France on 16th of last month and was placed in quarantine in hospital in Paris on the 25th of last month.
This is the third reported death outside of mainland China.
1,523 people have died from the virus within China, mostly in the Hubei Province where it first emerged.
These include 143 deaths that was just reported yesterday by the country's national health commission.
A further 2,641 people have been confirmed with the virus, bringing China's total cases to 66,492.
