All hopes of the Savusavu Copra Mill remaining in operation now depend on the bilateral talks being held between the Fiji and Kiribati Governments.
Copra Millers of Fiji Board Chairperson, Ilisoni Taoba said that the talks will allow Fiji to be able to bring in copra from Kiribati as Fiji is currently facing a shortage.
Taoba said that the effects of the tropical cyclones last year means that Fiji will be facing a shortage until June this year.
However he stressed that in order to keep the mill in operation, a huge supply of copra is needed.
Energy Fiji Limited will re-apply for a review on EFL tariffs this year which means that they would like to increase electricity rates.
