The contracts of 14 police officers have been terminated for abuse of police vehicles and police vehicle accidents in 2017.
Police have also confirmed that out of the 14, 3 were Special Constables and 11 were Regular Officers.
Speaking to Fijivillage Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says these officers have been removed because they have caused significant damages to the Police mobility assets.
Qiliho says he has constantly reminded the officers that misuse will not be tolerated as some drivers drove with invalid licenses.
When asked if superiors in the force that allowed those officers that did not have a valid licence to drive were disciplined, Qiliho says they have been warned.
Qiliho says maybe that was the reason why people thought he did not have a license when he was in a motor cycle accident.
Qiliho says now they have more mobility assets purchased by government and it is important for the Police Force to remember that it is not their vehicle but it belongs to the people of Fiji.
