The construction of the Vatuwaqa Bridge and Stinson Parade Bridge in Suva will commence next year and will be completed in 2017.
This has been confirmed by the Minster for Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala after Opposition MP Prem Singh asked the Minister on why there has been a delay for almost two years after they were closed.
Minster for Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala says there is no delay.
Bala says the Fiji Roads Authority has gone past the concept design relating to the two bridges in Suva.
He says in regards to the bridge in Rakiraki, the bridge was declared unsafe in 2013 and will officially open at the end of August this year by the Prime Minister.
Oppsition MP Aseri Radrodro then asked Bala if the works on the bridges in Suva will be tendered again by the FRA or will it be awarded to one of the ongoing contractors.
Bala answered the tender will be out at the end of this year and he is not in the position to determine who will get that tender.
