The Lautoka hospital is expected to have a new Accident and Emergency Unit before the end of next year.
The construction work on the new unit is expected to start from tomorrow.
The Ministry of Health said the overdue works at the hospital will provide a new step in quality health care for Fijians in the Western Division.
The Health Ministry added that the services at the hospital will operate as normal as the two departments General Outpatients Departments and the Emergency Departments will be relocated to the entrance at the Physio department.
